Analysis of the social policy of Ukraine makes it necessary to focus research on particularly pressing matter – the situation of youth under social and economic transformations of the state in crisis. It is of significant importance at a time of systematic transformation of the Ukrainian society. Every society’s evolution, achievement of better results in social care is very much tied with the social sphere and challenges to be addressed in this field.

Transformation of Ukraine’s economy into a true free market economy opens up new possibilities for youth in terms of free choice of profession, place of living or job. On the other hand, transformation processes reveal challenges related to restructuring and privatization of companies. The way these challenges are addressed has an effect on the overall state of economy.

Their shaping is based mainly on distinguishing specific patterns of young people’s behavior in the sphere of employment and unemployment against the backdrop of market mechanisms of economy’s development. The article as well focuses on the elaboration of mechanisms of providing social protection of youth.
