CURRENT TRENDS OF THE EU COMMON FOREIGN TRADE POLICY IN THE CONTEXT OF CUSTOMS AREA PROTECTION

Abstract

European security model of the internal market in a context of growing globalization, despite all the difficulties in the European Union, remains an example of a successful foreign economic and foreign trade strategy of countries. The European Union is an example of countries integrations that have delegated some of their powers, have gained the stability of the economic environment and the customs area security. The EU common policy has unified the rules of goods movement, harmonized the customs system, and introduced joint initiatives with third countries, thus protecting the national interests of each EU member state. Today, the EU economic and customs area is an example of both institutional and parametric balancing of area, which was formed historically and evolutionarily. Therefore, the integration of third countries into it is a challenge for stabilizing the EU economic development.

The article reveals the peculiarities of the European model realization of the common foreign trade policy in the context of the EU customs area protection. It is argued that the EU common foreign and security policy is based on the principles of strategic partnership. Participation of EU countries in global value added chains has been characterized. The peculiarities of the EU foreign trade structure are substantiated. The main achievements in the implementation of the EU common customs policy and the results of customs area security are revealed. The priorities of the EU customs policy in the context of the common foreign trade policy are formulated.
