The main measures and methods taken by the Soviet authorities to restore the educational material base of pedagogical colleges are identified.
The purpose of the study is to characterize the material base and trace the process of resumption of pedagogical colleges on the basis of the analysis of archival documents and verification of the works of Ukrainian researchers. Identify the positive and negative aspects of the introduction of Soviet methodology in the educational process.
In the post war period, the problem of training teachers, especially primary school, remained acute. Among the Ukrainian population there was a large percentage of illiterate and illiterate people. There was a need to train primary school teachers.
The Soviet government, along with measures to improve the functioning of pedagogical institutions, gave priority to controlling the level of ideological consciousness of future primary school teachers. Consequently, the educational policy of the state has acquired a pronounced ideological character.
Thus, in the difficult conditions of the post war period, the Soviet government created an extensive network of secondary pedagogical institutions designed to provide the western Ukrainian region with teaching staff. The positive thing at that time was the general availability of education, the growth of the material and technical base of educational institutions that trained teachers for primary school. Simultaneously with the positive changes in the field of education, there were also negative tendencies, which were manifested in the continuous ideologizing of the educational process, constant control by the Soviet party structures.
