INVESTMENT ATTRACTIVENESS OF UKRANIAN REGIONS

Abstract

The article examines the theoretical nature of the question of investment attractiveness of regions and analyzes the economic state of Ukraine's regions using indicators such as gross regional product, exports and imports in the region, capital flow and foreign direct investment in the regions. The main aim of the article is to identify the most investment-attractive regions of the country based on a study of key indicators of regions of Ukraine.

In the first section we identified the theoretical nature of the investment attractiveness of regions. As a result, it was determined that the investment attractiveness of the region – is a totality of political, economical, social and ecological factors, that affect on the desire of investors to invest in the development of the region.

In the second, analytical part of the article, has been studied indicators such as GRP, exports and imports in the all Ukranian regions, capital investments and foreign direct investment in the regions. Based on these indicators was built four tables. Each table was displayed five leading regions for each of the indicators, that were mentioned above.

The first table shows the regions with the highest gross regional product. Most attractive territories, according to this indicator is Dnepropetrovsk, Kiev, Kharkov, Odessa and Donetsk regions.

Second indicator is gross regional product per capita. Regions that are leaders is Dnepropetrovsk, Kiev, Poltava, Kharkov and Zaporizhzhia.

The following indicators have been export and import of regions of Ukraine. Regions with the largest exports is Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava and Zaporizhzhia region and with the largest imports: Dnepropetrovsk, Kiev and Lviv regions.

In the last two tables we investigated state of investment in the regions. In the bottom line, regions with the biggest capital investments is Dnepropetrovsk, Ivano-Fankivsk, Lviv, Kiev and Kharkov regions and with biggest direct investments is Dnepropetrovsk, Kiev, Lviv and Odessa regions.

In the conclusion to the article, based on the analysis of mentioned above indicators, we are having final result: the most attractive region of the Ukraine from investment point of view is Dnipropetrovsk region. Also in honorable mentions is Lviv, Odessa, Kiev and Kharkiv regions.
