Abstract

According to the results of analysis the main restrictive factors for further recovery of the economy and the banking sector have been identified. There is significant volatility of the hryvnia exchange rate to major world currencies and exceeding the actual level of inflation targeting set by the National Bank of Ukraine.

A retrospective analysis of the main reasons of a particular set of problems has been carried out, as well as the response of the regulator to them in the context of cooperation with the Government, international partners, as well as the measures taken and the use of available resources.

Apart this, the dynamics of the consumer price index has been analyzed in the context of the policy concerning to the raising social standards, as well as their impact on the activity of households.

The relevant regulatory responses to disturbing challenges in the context of cooperation with the Government and international partners have been described.

The situation on the foreign exchange market during 2014-2017 has been analyzed, considering the dynamics of the hryvnia exchange rate. A comparative analysis of the dynamics of the official exchange rate established by the National Bank of Ukraine and the results of the calculation of the exchange rate, calculated in accordance with the methodology of the International Monetary Fund, has been conducted.

Based on the study, conclusions have been made for the further renewal of the banking system to stabilize the exchange rate and stop the further devaluation of the hryvnia in the future.
