THE ROLE OF AUTHENTIC MATERIALS IN LEARNING BUSINESS ENGLISH
This article attempts to explore the role of authentic materials in teaching business English. Particular attention is paid to the definition of the purposes of the authentic materials usage, because it is necessary at all stages of learning a foreign language in all types of speech activities, because authentic materials create the illusion of familiarizing with the natural language environment, acquaint students with the culture and daily life of the country, help to increase the motivation to learn a foreign language as a subject. The article provides a classification of authentic materials, highlights their advantages as means of learning, discusses the conditions of authentic materials usage and the functions they perform; provides guidelines for the authentic materials usage and lists the difficulties of their usage. The aim of the article is to identify the place and the role of authentic materials in teaching business English. The article focuses on the result of the systematic usage of unadapted original (authentic) materials in teaching business English; the potential of authentic materials and their capabilities as a valuable resource for teaching and independent work of students.
