Ukrainian Nationalist Movement in Canada (1918 – 1939) and Its Organizational Legalization

Abstract

The article deals with the formation process and organizational legalization of the nationalist public associations, i.e. the Ukrainian Riflemen’s Community, the Ukrainian National Federation, etc. The author of the article analyses the major vectors of their activity and lists the adherents of the nationalist movement of the Ukrainian Diaspora in Canada. Moreover, the author underlines that the number of those who joined the ranks of the nationalist movement in emigration is constantly increasing. Therefore, the article presents the tendencies and results of the Ukrainian nationalist organization activity. In addition, the research shows how such associations assist compatriots in Canada and in Ukraine. Therefore, the author defines their implicit role in preservation and popularization of the Ukrainian language, culture, customs and traditions among the Ukrainians of the Diaspora.
