Abstract

Most poems of Ukrainian dissident, political prisoner Z. Krasivsky are created in the jail of Vladimirskiy Central (Russian Federation) in 1968–1971. The withdrawn handwritten texts became founding for the new term of conclusion: security service in the USSR – KGB – imprisoned the author to the psychiatric clinic in Smolensk.
The novelty of the study is that the collection “Slave Laments” is considered for the first time in the context of the genre tradition (trenos/lament). For the first time, an attempt has been made to review the leading motifs and symbolic images of Z. Krasivsky’s lyrics, comparing the image of the lyrical hero with ideas about the author, which are based on the material of his memories, his letters, and memories of him. Research methods: historical and literary, geneological, biographical, hermeneutic interpretation.
Marked by the patriotic and idealistic pathos of “heroic enthusiasm,” Z. Krasivsky’s lyrics should become a textbook, as they contain grateful material for the education of young generations of Ukrainians. It presents the image of a lyrical hero, who is certain of his national identity. Generalized and symbolic images of the foreign world and its repulsive species turned out to be appropriate to the contemporary realities of the “Russian world”.
This lyric is not just patriotic, but also bright, written sincerely, talentedly – regardless of the prohibitions of Soviet censorship, since it was created and distributed as an artifact of underground, clandestine literature. Z. Krasivsky's lyrics deserve to be among the best achievements of Ukrainian poetry of the post-war decades.
