ANALYSIS OF THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC SITUATION IN UKRAINE REGARDING THE HANDLING AND PROCESSING OF SOLID HOUSEHOLD WASTE (SHW)

Abstract

The article analyzes the socio-economic situation in Ukraine regarding the handling and processing of solid household waste (SHW). It is noted that the issue of solid household waste, like other environmental problems in Ukraine, is deepening annually. The situation in the waste processing market in Ukraine is described as complex and diverse. The conclusion is drawn that effective SHW management in Ukraine requires a comprehensive approach that covers legal, technical, economic, and cultural aspects. Implementation of such an approach can contribute to reducing the negative impact of waste on the environment and create new opportunities for sustainable development and increased entrepreneurial activity in SHW processing enterprises. It is established that Ukraine also faces problems in the management of solid household waste, including a focus on landfilling in landfills, most of which do not meet environmental safety standards and European standards, low waste utilization rates and the implementation of innovative technologies, as well as the inefficiency of existing economic instruments in this area.
