Abstract

The personal development of children in adolescence depends significantly on their ability to respond constructively to crisis situations, avoiding unproductive mechanisms of psychological protection, which are manifested in various forms of deviant behavior. In this context, it is important to study the features and strategies of coping behavior that are used by adolescents in the process of overcoming crisis situations in various spheres of life. Based on the analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature, it was found that coping behavior is a complex of cognitive, emotional and behavioral actions aimed at overcoming external or internal obstacles, assessed by the personality as tense and exceeding its adaptive capabilities. Coping behavior is determined by the subjective significance of the situation for the individual and is aimed at solving the real problem or its emotional experience, correcting self-esteem or regulating relationships with people. Analysis and comparison of different approaches to the classification of types of behavior in crisis situations give grounds to determine several criteria for differentiation of coping strategies: orientation (problem solving, search for social support, avoiding stressful situations); scope of manifestation (behavioral, cognitive, emotional); adaptive capabilities (adaptive, relatively adaptive, non-adaptive).
