The article deals with the topos of a foreign land. Its interpretation in the poetry of Volodymyr Pidpalyi, a representative of the “silent poetry,” is being traced. The toposes of European countries have been found to be the leading ones in his poetry. The “Springtime,” “On the Road, Following the Swallows,” “The Cherry World,” “The Shores of the Earth,””The Suffering Heart” poetry collections are analyzed and compared.
