LEXICAL-SEMANTIC GROUP OF EXISTENCE VERBS
Keywords:
lexical-semantic classifi cation, lexical-semantic group, verbs of existenceAbstract
The article deals with a comparative analysis of the lexical-semantic classifi cations of verbs of existence in Ukrainian and foreign linguistics. The basic characteristics of the verbs of existence are outlined: most verbs of existence refl ect a state that occurs in a certain time interval (to hibernate) and in a certain location (to take place); some verbs of existence show the quantitative characteristics of existence (to lack, to count among); and some other verbs of existence show qualitative characteristics of existence (feelings are hibernating), etc. On the example of this lexical-semantic group of verbs and methods of component analysis and step-by-step identifi cation it is demonstrated how to determine whether all lexical-semantic variants of the investigated verb belong to one lexical-semantic group. Further research is aimed at expanding of this classifi cation and constructing a generalized lexical-semantic classifi cation of verbs of the Ukrainian language.
Such classifi cation can be used for the semantic markup of verbs in text corpora, creation of semantic and ideographic dictionaries, etc.
