STRUCTURAL PECULIARITIES OF MODERN ENGLISH COMPUTER TERMS

A characteristic feature of the late XX – early XXI century is the formation of new computerized society. Dynamic changes in the society and its swift development require have led to the formation of a number of neologisms, which describe the actualities of up-to-date reality. A sphere of new technologies is the main sources that enriches the English language with a great number of lexical-semantic and phraseological units in connection with the current tendencies and areas of scientific and technological development. This is explained by the fact that a quick development of this sphere and newly appeared new items, events and processes in it require appropriate notation in the language. The article analyzes peculiarities of formation and functioning of English computer language in the context of development of the modern English vocabulary. The most productive ways of formation of computer terminology are as follows – affixation (suffixation, prefi xation) and the usage of word-nuclei for the formation of a large number of derivatives of these words. Less productive are conversion and blending. It is mentioned that computer terms become more common in everyday life due to development of information technologies, which causes
development of slang and colloquialisms.
