RECEPTION OF M. KOTSYUBYNSKY’S CREATIVE WORK: CONTEMPORARY LITERARY TRENDS
Abstract
At first after liberation from pressure of ideological system the scientists openly began to assert a particular stylistic Kotsyubynsky’s manner, approaching his work to the European sample modern literature of the
XXth century. The works of V. Aheeva, S.Pavlichko, Y. Polishchuk appeared at the turn of the century. They aid the theoretical foundation for rethinking of Kotsiubynskyi’s creativity.
Typically, the researchers take into account the writer’s later works, which have the highest artistic quality. The works of the early period usually are taken into account only as a presentation of the evolution of Kotsiubynskyi’s creative tallent. The emphasis on the deep psychology of his works is important in this line.
In the 1990s researchers perceived Kotsiubynskyi’s creativity as an evolution of the writer’s realistic manner to bright impressionistic style. Scientists continue to debate about Kotsiubynsky’s inheritance in the early period of the populist writers. The researchers interpreted it not only as a drawback of the artist.
Turning to the intertextual relations with the European literary heritage, the researchers traced this idea back in the 20s. But only social, semantic aspect of works was taken into an account. Little attention was paid to the analysis of joint artistic techniques and stylistic traits. Nowadays, the researchers are free to interpret Kotsiubynskyi’s work as a part of a European literary discourse.
