Abstract

In the article on the lexical material recorded from the inhabitants of the village of Zaluzhzhia in the Dubrovytskyi
district of Rivne region, a group of traditional weaving terms related to the preparatory stage of weaving – the conception
and dressing of the loom is presented. In particular, one that is not recorded in dictionaries or other sources;
proves its identity. These lexemes are considered in compliance with the basic requirements of diachronic and synchronous
analysis, developed by modern lexicology science. In this investigation not only the weaving vocabulary of
the given thematic group is given, but also its origin and further fate are determined. There is evidence that the dialect
has a lot to do with the Belarusian dialects, as evidenced by both dictionaries and scientifi c intelligence from leading
scholars who studied the lexemes of the Belarusian and Ukrainian dialects of this lexical-thematic group.
The analysis of this vocabulary gives an opportunity to conclude that the vast majority of names are etymologically
related and common in the whole territory of Ukraine. The literary names of the congregation, the wanderer and their
numerous derivate are in dialectal use, but in the village nobody has ever been able to sew and weave, because the
disappearance of the weaving craftsmanship disappears and tokens that denote those processes or names of actions.
