LANGUAGE PICTURE OF THE WORLD AS A NATIONAL AND LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUAL SYSTEM

Abstract

The picture of the world reflects the results of man’s knowledge of the world, representing them as a system of images; own position of a real-life subject, his attitude to the world around him, the ability to change it through activity.
The language picture of the world is the result of a physical and cultural experience which is reflected in the linguistic form. The accumulation of the experience and knowledge about the objective world and the man’s place in it, which is expressed in the language form, contribute to the creation of a “language picture of the world”. It corresponds to each given ethno cultural community. Both the national language, the national, cultural, socio-historical experiences of one or another national community of people are certainly included in the construction of the language picture of the world.
It is necessary to use instrurnents that define the worldview, understanding of the world, perception of the reality such as frames, concepts, gestalts, etc. for the formation of the language picture of the learner’s world. They are instruments of operating in Cognitive Linguistics and help to modeling the picture of the world and language consciousness.
Science is a dynamic, creative, ever-changing system with extremely mobile boundaries. The development of science involves the expansion of boundaries, the inclusion of such problems that it had not previously engaged in it. It shifts scientific horizons, freeing up space for solving a particular problem, developing new theories or research methods. The emergence of new directions in the study of the language has led to the emergence of a large number of «new Linguistics”: Ethnolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, Sociolinguistics, etc. Ethnolinguistics is characterized as a direction that focuses on the study of the links of the language with culture, folk customs, the social structure of a society or a nation as a whole.
