Abstract

The article presents theoretical aspects of the relationship between the state of mental health and reproductive attitudes of pregnant women in war conditions. An analysis of modern research on mental health as a multidimensional psychological phenomenon that determines the ability of an individual to psychological adaptation, self-regulation and preservation of subjective well-being is conducted. Reproductive attitudes are analyzed as a system of ideas, value orientations and a woman’s readiness to fulfill the maternal role. Attention is emphasized on the significance of the impact of war stressors on the psycho-emotional state of pregnant women and the transformation of their reproductive orientations.
The generalization of modern scientific approaches allows us to outline potential psychological mechanisms of interaction between mental health and reproductive attitudes in conditions of prolonged stress and uncertainty. The importance of psychological resources and social support as factors of maintaining mental well-being and stability of reproductive attitudes during pregnancy is emphasized.
The theoretical provisions of the article can serve as a basis for further empirical research and development of programs of psychological support for pregnant women in conditions of military challenges, which potentially creates prerequisites for maintaining mental well-being, stabilizing reproductive attitudes and, in a broader social perspective, may be associated with tendencies to maintain and increase the birth rate.
