SEARCHING THE PLACE OF SAFETY AND PROTECTION IN HALYNA PAHUTIAK’S ANTIUTOPIAN NOVEL “NOTES OF THE WHITE BIRD”

Abstract

The article considers the phenomenon of utopia in Ukrainian literature on the example of Halyna Pahutiak’s “Notes of the White Bird” novel. It has been found that the multilevel structure of the author’s utopia consists of numerous loci. The image of the Island is especially vivid. In view of its remoteness from the real world, it is a place of absolute happiness. In the text, a few possible models of utopia are developed. The concept of the «own home» as a real and reliable shelter for those in need is priority one.
