Abstract

The immediate aim of the article is to define the vocalic and consonant features of West Riding speech of Yorkshire dialect. The radio interviews, recorded by the local radio BBC stations, were chosen as the material for the research. The auditory analysis proves the social nature of Yorkshire dialect, emphasizes its sociolinguistic peculiarities.
