Abstract

The article highlights the discrediting strategy of the opponent and its use in the speeches of the U.S. President Barack Obama. The author considers the tactics of adverse action indirect exposure of the opponent and direct accusations tactics of the opponent to be the main tactics of communication discrediting strategy of the opponent in the President’s speeches, and analyzes the lingual means of implementing this strategy in the American political discourse.
