Abstract

The article examines the importance of sociolinguistic and corpus methods of research in the study of innovative processes in the Polish phraseology (in particular, phraseology with the component naming animals). It is found out that the use of the mentioned methods gives an opportunity to reveal the changes in the semantic structure of phraseologisms (the emergence of new meanings, innovative denotative and connotative semes in the traditional phraseological meaning), the changes in the traditional patterns of combinatory power of phraseologisms with the elements of context, the emergence of changes at the level of formal structure of phraseologisms and the emergence of neo-phraseologisms.
