MILITARY DIARY AS A «TEXT OF THE MEMORY» IN THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE EXTREMAL TENSION OF THE INDIVIDUAL

The article focuses its attention on the genre of diary. The diaries taken for analysis are diaries of Oleksandr Dovzhenko and Arkadii Liubchenko which represent different perceptions of military experience. However, all these works are united by the common existential discourse. The form of openness and sincerity in these works depends not only on the psychological makeup of the author, but also to a large extent on the social situation, as the diary is a time document and «history» is dominant in it. Although the authors primarily paid attention to current events, in general diaries are important as «memory text» because they brought up problems of the past. The authors mainly compare war experience with pre-war memories or authors’ ideal imagery.
