Abstract

The article deals with the subordinate attributive clauses, including the use of connecting word that. It analizes: grammatical properties of subordinate sentences on the material of art works by contemporary Ukrainian writers; stylistic use of connecting word that in complex sentences with subordinate attributive clauses; relations between their components; and reveales the rules and laws of the ratio of words and the factors that determine their structure. Attributive clause can sometimes make causal shade in complex sentences. Pov’yazuyuchys with the main sentence semantic relationships, it reveals the main cause of action or its result. Sentences of this type are extremely weakened attributive function here in the foreground causal shades. With the main sentence they are more related to semantic relationships. Grammatically
joined to the main connecting using words that refer to a noun, and therefore deemed clauses
