INTERACTION IN SECOND LANGUAGE CLASSROOMS

The article is devoted to communication and interaction in the classrooms as communication is considered to be the main goal of learning while interaction is a key to achieve it, as well as it is a key of second language acquisition. A lot of researchers assert that interaction can be defined as the discourse that teachers and students as interlocutors create jointly. It encourages students to participate in various language learning activities and makes more outputs of the language and facilitates language learning. However, according to common practice in the second language classrooms, this process of learning is mainly initiated by teachers by means of teacher questioning, teacher instructions, or any other kind of activities that facilitate learners’ language acquisition. Special attention is devoted to group work as students more chance to interact and use the target language more freely.
