GRADUALITY OF REALIZATION OF A PHENOMENON «CONSENSUS» IN ENGLISH-LANGUAGE PUBLICISTIC DISCOURSE

The article is devoted to the investigation of graduality of lingual realization of a phenomenon «consensus» in English-language publicistic discourse. It is underlined the category of graduality is related to characteristics of a level, a degree and quality of linguistic features that are in potential dynamics. The analysis of the factual material has made possible to highlight the peculiarities of the gradual organisation of the phenomenon «consensus». Its relevance to an absolute degree, a considerable degree, an intermediate degree and a slight degree was determined. In the research the degrees of the lingual realization have been defined as its gradual types. According to the above classification, the conventional scale of the quantitative markers was demonstrated. In addition, the poles of no-consensus and absolute consensus were presented. The conclusion was drawn regarding completeness and incompleteness of achievement of consensus that is correlated to «complete consensus» and «partial consensus» as new terms.
