CОMPOUND-CONJUNCTIVE CONSTRUCTIONS IN DIALOGUE DISCOURSE: COMMUNICATIVE AND PRAGMATIC ASPECTt

Abstract

This study outlines compound-conjunctive constructions of the different structural and semantic types in Ukrainian fiction dialogue discourse as the communicative units that are closely related with dialogue speech and provide the effective speech interaction of the dialogue partners. The reason to make such structures is the case when the speaker begins the sentence and does not frequently have well-defined idea about the elements the sentence consists. As a result separate elements can be formed with the help of gradual conjunctive constructions that previously were unpredictable by speaker. Among compound-conjunctive constructions in dialogue discourse the author singles out such type as compound-conjunctive constructions where conjunctive elements are synonymic to the parts of the compound sentence; compound-conjunctive constructions where conjunctive elements are synonymic to the parts of the complex sentence; compound-conjunctive constructions where conjunctive elements are synonymic to the parts of the compound asyndetic sentence.
The dialogue discourse presents asyndetic and syndetic compound-conjunctive constructions. Special conjunctions, compound and complex conjunctions, separate particles, modal verbs, and adverbs are distinguished between the means to make conjunctive connection within the parts of the compound-conjunctive sentence. The author emphasizes that conjunctive connection differs from the compound and complex ones, because compound and complex conjunctions are presented in a new role of functioning for the adjunction and making single communicative unit.
The study points out that similar structures caused by the additional communicative objective and conditions of the specific speech situation are powerful stylistic potential of fiction dialogue because they reveal its content meaningfulness and emotional expressiveness. The author notes that compound-conjunctive constructions are not the failure to comply with the rules of grammar perfect utterances making. It is a natural phenomenon as a result of which formal and semantic structure of sentence unit gets used to the dialogue discourse needs.
As a prospect for the following studying the author aims the research of verbal ways to regulate different types of communicative interaction in the dialogue discourse structure.
