Abstract

Currently, one can observe the rapid development of modern information and communication technologies in all areas of human activity, including education. Socio-economic changes require new approaches to the training of specialists. The purpose of modern training of a foreign language in the higher school should be considered as forming of professional foreign-language competence of future engineers, their capability to effective communication with the help of verbal and nonverbal means of a foreign language, creative development in communicative interactions with foreign colleagues. The highly qualified specialist of higher education institutions should be capable to identify and use the linguistic and speech competencies, gained throughout training at the higher school, as components of professional competence depending on a professional orientation. The current state of informatization of education as a basis for training a competent expert is analyzed. When teachers decide to use social media, they need to know which social media platforms can support and improve their students’ results and which tool they can use with students to have them experience English language. Educational opportunities of Internet technologies and selection of a training material in the process of training of English in the higher school are described in the article.
