Abstract

The topicality of the article deals with the expediency of usage the films at the lessons of German in order to develop attention and memory, widen vocabulary and expand students’ background knowledge. The usage of video during the lessons enhances motivation for learning, stimulates students’ activity and creates conditions for independent work. The article proposes a methodology of working with video materials at the lesson of the German language as a foreign language. The examples of exercises after each stage of work with a video are given. The criteria of a successful lesson with the usage of video are determined. Students can get a clear idea of ​​life, traditions, language realia of a foreign language while watching videos. Modern media technologies help to expand the scopes of the lesson, provide the usage of new forms of learning and allow to solve a range of tasks: students can hear the real German language by native speakers, see the sightseeing attractions and museums that they have read in the texts about, learn more about the rules of behavior in different situations in German-speaking countries. Video materials provide unlimited opportunities for an analysis based on comparing cultural realities and peculiarities of people’s behavior in different situations of intercultural communication. Video is the ability to form all types of speech activity. Working with video films in a foreign language course allows to work with authentic materials, motivates students for creativity, mobility and flexibility in thinking. The objective of the film is to provide the development of communicative, intercultural, linguistic, cognitive, informational, cognitive, as well as social competencies. Working with short video in the lesson of foreign language provides the implementation of innovative forms of teaching and didactically extends traditional forms of learning.
