Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the peculiarities of the translation of the English lexical-stylistic means of expressing drama in
O. Wilde’s novel Portrait of Dorian Gray. The relevance of the study is determined by modern requirements for the transfer not only of the content and ideas of the work of art, but also the optimal reproduction of its stylistic qualities, microform. The text of an artistic work represents a multidimensional meaningful unity, which reflects the psychology of the writer, where the idea is implemented in the literary form, and also reflects the unique phenomenon of human consciousness – a language that, through systematic-functional, semantic, stylistic, stylistic, and other organizations, reveals national and individual -linguistic conceptual picture of the world. One of the new areas of research in the field of the theory of artistic text is the discovery of lexical-stylistic means of expressing drama in the works of classical fiction, which arise as a result of their semantic interaction with other elements of the text, their role in the content structure of the text, the reflection of the author’s relation to that. reported to the author’s purpose, which is disclosed in artistic images. The subject-sensual form represented by various lexical-stylistic means through the drama is at the heart of the artistic images of O. Wilde – one of the representatives of the ideological flow of aestheticism. The author determines, that the features of the interpretation of lexical-stylistic means of expressing drama in the novel
O. Wilde “The Portrait of Dorian Grey” include the use of impersonal turns, the change of the nouns family, the widespread use of adjectives and verbose turns, which make it possible to develop not only the witty style but also the dynamic character of the plot, which ensure the expressiveness and brightness of the language of O. Wilde, expresses the individual style of the author.
