Abstract

The article outlines the range of issues concerning the study of the problem of conceptual borrowing, the typology of the given phenomenon, the reseach of borrowed consepts of language and culture from indigenous languages in the contemporary polynational English linguoculture. Due to the processes of borrowing the conceptual sphere of the given linguoculture (English) develops and enriches. Import of foreign linguocultural concepts is caused by a complex of linguistic and extralingual factors (historical, socio-political, national-cultural ones, etc.). From donor linguosystems (indigenous), they incorporate into the recipient-linguosystem (both conceptual and lexical systems of the English language), thus reflecting the national identity, national and cultural specificity, the uniqueness of the linguistic culture of the recipient. Imported linguocultural concepts (from indigenous lingual systems) undergo development in the receiving linguoculture (English), subsequently, this fact is naturally reflected in lexical items, which acquire additional meanings in the language-recipient; as a result of the process of conceptual borrowing, the receiving lingual system – the polynational English language and its culture – develops, enriches and continues to form.
