THE PERCULARITIES OF THE FUNCTIONING OF HATE SPEECH ON THE INTERNET

Abstract

The article focuses on the study of the particular aspects of Hate Speech functioning on the Internet. The factors that cause the rapid spread of Hate Speech, the emergence and development of its new forms have been analyzed. Among them the leading role have globalization, media, digitalization and the public. The study underlines the fact that the main thematic areas of Hate Speech are politically, culturally and historically conditioned. It was attempted to find the main characteristics of this phenomenon and a number of criteria on the basis of which the Hate Speech can be distinguished from related communicative forms. The study revealed a pattern of results which could be significant for defining and specifying the basic forms of Hate Speech, as well as its three main types and the criteria for recognizing them. The nature of Hate Speech has been particularly analyzed. Three main approaches to the study of this phenomenon were analyzed, among which the linguistic approach is of a particular importance, since it allows to establish the intensity of the speaker, to fix the fact of using Hate Speech and has an impact on legal consequences of such actions. A critical assessment of recent research has shown that there has been little investigation into this field. In sum up a significant link between important aspects of Hate Speech that have been existing and many important issues facing Hate Speech at the moment has been detected recently.
