Abstract

The given paper highlights the latest Western and Ukrainian schools and approaches to the research of gender. The article analyses the gender and lingvocultural peculiarities of the realization of the communicative tactics of the negative presentation of the object of criticism in the English and German film reviews. For this purpose the statistic and comparative analysis of the frequency and specific weight of the speech moves in the frame of the given communicative tactics in the female and male English and German film reviews has been applied. The results of the experiment found that there are both common and different gender and lingvocultural features in the speech behavior of the lingvocultural communities under study. Thus, the German lingvoculture is inclined to the more critical evaluation of the object of criticism as opposed to the English one. As regards the gender differences, the research shows that the female reviewers were more likely to use the speech move the “statement of the shortcomings” in the English lingvoculture, while the male reviewers used it more actively in the German lingvoculture. In both lingvocultures the male authors were more likely to resort to the speech move “condemnation” and “mocking”, which testifies to their more confrontational communicative behaviour as opposed to the female representatives. Both male and female English reviewers used the speech move “gibe” more often as compared to the German reviewers, who were more reserved while evaluating.
