TRADITIONAL AGAINST MODERN METHODS OF EFFECTIVE FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING
Keywords:
classical education, online education, technical education, teaching methodsAbstract
Today, online courses / trainings have become extremely popular, as more universities and companies offer courses online. However, despite the popularity of online education, huge groups of people deliberately avoid such methods, mainly due to improper presentation. At the same time, despite the growing popularity of online courses, traditional (classroom) learning resists and is trying to use new ways to preserve student interest. There are always two sides of the medal. For some people, online learning is more appropriate, while for other preferred teaching methods, learning is in the classroom.
Despite the practical value of technical education, life is more than work, and higher education is one of the important factors in achieving a balance between work and life. Proponents of classical education believe that the main purpose of education is not preparation for work, but the transfer of knowledge, culture and traditions to future generations. The purpose of classical education was to provide students with tools for critical and independent thinking and to become students throughout their lives. Socrates said that “the only true wisdom is to know that you do not know anything.”
Although some believe that technical education is more valuable than classical education, the truth is that all education is valuable, and there are no reasons why people should choose one another. Perhaps the most valuable advantage of IT education is that it allows people to earn enough money to attend classes in what they are most interested in. Instead of attending several courses at the same time, some of which may not be interesting to them, they can enjoy the educational process.
