SEMANTIC AND PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC FEATURES OF UKRAINIAN LULLABIES

Abstract

It has been found that modern parents sing lullabies, but they do not remember them, while the collections collected by informants born in the 23-30s contain 100-200 lullabies.
It is found that Ukrainian lullabies are the way of interaction between the performer and the child and are a kind of influence on the baby’s sensory system. Using the theory of D. Grinder and R. Bandler, the linguistic (discrete) map of lullabies is analyzed and it is determined that the images in lullabies are presented in visual, auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory, gustatory representative systems. The greatest influence by the performer to the listener is through kinesthetic and visual systems.
The soothing effect of lullabies is in the monotony achieved through simplicity of content and with the help of anaphora.
In some lullabies, language constructions are similar to the incantation.
In some texts of lullabies a certain positive picture of the world about the happy future life of the child is formed. The girls have different pictures than boys.
Some lullabies celebrate an attractive life, such songs perform a therapeutic function. Some lullabies resemble a notebook: the performer “chants” the next plans for the day.
Cradles have the effect of situational psychotherapy, in which the mother complains to the child her own worries, for example, she complains that she has been left a widow or complains that her family has left her.
Many songs reveal not only the psychological state of the performer, but also the physical (mostly a fatigue state).
A separate type of lullabies are those that use the technique of cartoons. There are also cursing lullabies.
Lullabies like fairy tales at night have a narrative character. These are simple stories in a song form.
