The article reflects the results of the research of methods and means of achieving the comic effect in semiotically heterogeneous texts of English-speaking animated comedies. In addition to language play, which is provided by the arsenal of multilevel linguistic and stylistic means and covers all layers of the text, it is natural that in texts of this type an important role in achieving comic effect belongs to nonverbal means in interaction with verbal. It is revealed that the comic effect is achieved as a result of an artificially created contradiction between the content of the verbal and visual components; inconsistency between visual and verbal data, in other words, the inclusion of the verbal component in the opposite content of the the non-verbal context; unfulfilled expectations that arise in the viewer after the verbal or visual message; assimilation of the meaning of verbal signs to visual signs.
