LANGUAGE REPRESENTATION OF THE CONCEPT OF “WARRIOR” IN THE MODERN UKRAINIAN MASS MEDIA PICTURE OF THE WORLD

The article is devoted to the analysis of the concept of warrior in modern Ukrainian mass media discourse in the conditions of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, which has been going on since 2022. The study of linguistic and cultural concepts in the context of current socio-political events allows us to explore the features of the national linguistic picture of the world, in particular the specifics of the mentality of the Ukrainian people and the transformation of value orientations.
The study outlines the theoretical foundations of conceptology as a branch of cognitive linguistics, defines the terminological apparatus, and describes the relationship between language, culture, and national identity. The concept of warrior is considered as a component of the Ukrainian conceptual sphere, which in modern conditions acquires increased cultural, moral, and symbolic significance. The emphasis is placed on its nominative, connotative, semantic, and ideological content.
Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the profiling of the concept in modern media, where it is implemented as a positively marked element of discourse – through the lexemes hero, defender, patriot, cyborg, Cossack. The dynamics of changes in mass media rhetoric, which occur under the influence of social reality and military circumstances, are studied. The representation of a warrior in the media space testifies to the formation of a collective image of a courageous, morally stable and devoted fighter for freedom.
The article characterizes the nominative field of the concept warrior, reveals the mechanisms of its linguistic implementation in various types of discourse – news, artistic, journalistic, social. It is proved that the concept warrior is a value center of modern Ukrainian linguistic culture.
The results of the study can be used in the further analysis of military terminology, the study of the interlingual conceptual picture of the world, as well as in the practice of linguocultural expertise of media texts.
