Abstract

The article focuses on the linguistic and cognitive peculiarities of the lexical means used to verbalise the ethnic archetype World Tree in the Australian poetic texts. The term “ethnic archetype” is specified; the ethnic archetype World Tree is studied as the archetypical component of the ethnic concept structure, the archetypal and new ethnic verbal and poetic images are analyzed; the core of the ethnic archetype is extracted; some cognitive operations for archetypical analysis are given; the main criteria to differentiate the archetypical verbal images are suggested.
