Abstract

In the article the notion “author’s intention” is considered, the problem of forming and transferring of the author’s idea in the emotive prose is investigated. On the example of English-language fiction (Jerome K. Jerome’s novel “Three Men in a Boat”) the ways of presenting of the artist’s intention (that take into account definite rules of verbal and artistic structuring of the text) are revealed. The role and artistic effect of using such stylistic device as irony is defined. This stylistic device makes the author’s intention at the pages of Jerome K. Jerome’s “little” prose explicit.
