Abstract

The preparation of the language certifi cation program of Ukrainian as a foreign language resulted in the need to create a basic Ukrainian language dictionary, thanks to which it would be possible to create both examination tasks and new textbooks for learners. In this article, the author shows the current proposals for the certifi cation of Ukrainian language created in Kiev and Lviv and requirements from the candidates at the basic level A1. The next part shows examples of creating similar dictionaries for French and Polish. Two proposals to conduct research on the structure of languages are adjusted to the specifi cs of each of them. The article discusses the methodology of conducting research and the fi nal effect. The summary contains suggestions for conducting similar research for the Ukrainian language.
