Abstract

the article outlines in detail the position of the founders of the idea of collage and collaging – German methodists B.-D. Muller and M. Zikmann (80 – 90 s., XX c.). It is shown that different cultures displayed and matched in the collage come together and coexist in various texts – both verbal and nonverbal. It defines the collage as background information product and a method of creativity development at school stage. We aim to prove that through implementing collaging method into the lessons of foreign languages a real possibility of mastering and operating with different notions is created, that through this method young students are facilitated for mastering the ability to formulate different concepts – both the concrete and the abstract ones; collaging promotes search for productive linguistic solutions. Collage lets a young student to look at everyday ordinary things in a special way, it triggers associative thinking, a background for the development of verbal responses and the ability to reason. Collage allows the child to draw on their experience and present topics within their subjective vision, their way of thinking; collage is suitable for both studying of cultural aspects, and for organizing perception of information, and for creating your own statements. We reveal the idea of collaging as a way of encoding / decoding of information, the method of penetration into another culture, making collage, according a specific plan, a student masters decoding techniques for new information by which he «builds bridge to another culture».
Collage makes transferring of information about other cultures clear, controlled and managed by teachers, open and accessible to students. We give specific examples of lessons in English and German, demonstrating the practical implementation of collaging in teaching English and German.
