COMPUTER SUBLANGUAGE OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND THE HISTORY OF ITS FORMATION

The article is devoted to investigation of computer sublanguage of the English language, identification of the status of its units. Differences between notions «sublanguage» and «language for special services» are clarified in the article, their definitions are given. Special attention is paid to the investigations of the history of development of computer sublanguage, extralingual factors of its forming in the English-speaking world. Computer terminology appeared in the late thirtieth of the previous century. The development and constant updating of computers lead to the advent of the new sphere of scientific and technical knowledge – the sphere of the computer science or technologies. This sphere and its notions needed to be designated. Due to this a huge number of terms which lately made up the sublanguage of the computer science appeared in the English language. The process of the computer terminology forming was spontaneous at first. Its regulation and normalization began only in seventieth years of the twentieth century with the final formation of the computer science as a scientific discipline and its achievements and results fixation in different kinds of scientific and popular-scientific literature. Personal computers and the Internet caused the appearance of new lexical units that enriched the computer sublanguage.
