The article refers to the important role of analogy which is the mechanism of new English words formation in the sphere of sport and tourism. An analogical word formation is the formation of new lexical units that copy a sample of a familiar lexical unit. In the process of analogical word formation morphological structure of a sample word is substituted with new lexical material. High frequency of new words formation by copying a sample word model promotes formation of a permanent component. This component acts as a word building element and forms other lexical units or word combinations. The mechanism of analogy in the sphere of sport and tourism is a mechanism of new words formation with active word building elements that are formed through blending, word composition and affixation. It has been revealed that approximately 21% of new English words have been formed due to this process. Phraseological and lexical units which have been formed due to this mechanism are thematically or semantically related. They may be related with antonymous meaning.
