Abstract

This article deals with a text productive potential of the linguocultural concept of ‘lagom’ at Lola A. Akerstrom’s eponymous bestseller. The article reveals the lexical units that fill the conceptual domain of ‘lagom’, and discovers their lexical-semantic valence. It establishes that nowadays the study of a concept has acquired a special research coloring that overruns the bounds of scientistic thinking. It is proved that the linguistic aureole, which is provided by the author to her work by disclosing a so-called formula for a linguocultural concept of ‘lagom’, is the important factor that contributes a text production (linguocultural concept is engaged in content of thematic series, combining structural parts of the text, narration deployment). It was found that describing a concept which, methphorically speaking, embodies the unstoppable national spirit, the author presents its quantitative measurements and metering, describes axiological characteristics, reveals the word forming potential, and discovers affiliation with certain classes of words. The article emphasizes that life based on the principle of “lagom” becomes more and more popular in the modern world, acquires some global tendency, since it promotes a rational relations between human and natural resources, moderation, harmony, and search for a balance or an equilibrium between human wants and needs. It is found out that the linguocultural concept of ‘lagom’ penetrates all parts of Lola A. Akerstrom’s work, combining a text outline into a single whole and gives it the direction of the thematic and plot progression. A powerful frame that fastens textual segments consists of metaphoricity, emotionality, analogy conduction, which the author uses to interpret the content of a semantically spacious, ethnically marked concept. These instruments also appear as the center of influence on the emotional and sensory sphere of the recipient-reader, and are designed to build speech acts of persuasion and affirmation.
