Abstract

The article investigates the linguo-stylistic features of parcellation in contemporary small epic works by Ukrainian writers K. Babkina, M. Laiuk and I. Tsilik. Attention is drawn to the basic and complementary functions of parcellation as a means of expressive syntax, functional-semantic tasks of parceled constructions are described, the basic types of parcels are defined, the communicative-pragmatic parameters of the parceled constructions are characterized and the reasons for their use in the selected texts are summarized. This work is considering the section between parcelling and connecting constructions, since parcelling is an extension of the essence of the sentence plan, connecting constructions belong to its constituent, so it is in a line with the divisional, causal relations. Text forming, text development and text design properties of parcels are analyzed. It is noted that parcellation, as an element of spoken syntax, is influenced by spoken language and has a specific intonation that plays a partition and highlighting role. The possibility of using parceled constructions as microtext or as a part of macrotext in which they contribute to the creation of categories of expressiveness, suggestiveness, cohesion, prospecting or retrospection is outlined.
