DISPLAYING NATIONAL-CULTURAL FEATURES OF UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE IN STUDYING OF SLOVAK LANGUAGE

Abstract

The article deals with the role of the Ukrainian language as one of the main national and cultural values of the Ukrainian people, analyzes peculiarities of the Ukrainian language against the background of the Slovak language in terms of intercultural communication, clarifies the specificity on how students acquire background knowledge as an essential for intercultural dialogue and the ways on how they should be guided towards another culture. It is also highlighted the ethnic function of a language. The article focuses on approaches to the study of non-equivalent words that denote specific cultural phenomena and do not have a single-word translation into another language. The author of the article substantiates the importance of getting acquainted with the national traditions of the Slovak people, folklore, culture, art, literature, starting from the initial stage of acquaintance with the Slovak language and at the simplest communication level, while taking into account the national-cultural specificity of communication and national-cultural features of the language semantics.
The article focuses on positive impact of studying the Slovak language in close connection with the national culture of the Ukrainian people, the linguistic-regional aspect of educational materials and teaching in general, which will enhance the students’ communicative and cognitive motivation, expand their general cultural outlook, allow to diversify techniques and forms of learning, most effectively implement didactic requirements of combining studying with personal development.
