LINGUISTIC ASPECT OF TEACHING AND PEDAGOGICAL DISCOURCE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR AT THE HIGHER INSTITUTION OF PEDAGOGICAL EDUCATION

The article concerns the detailed analysis of the notion of teaching and pedagogical discourse. Main attention is paid towards teaching and pedagogical discourse of English language instructor at the higher institution of pedagogical education that can be defined as language activity of one of the participants of educational process – instructor, and which is oriented towards transfer of knowledge and skills during learning situation. Also, teaching and pedagogical discourse includes courseware, textbooks, and teaching materials. In the article the author outlines linguistic aspect of teaching and pedagogical discourse, describes its general and specific linguistic features. General linguistic features of teaching and pedagogical discourse concern lexicon, thesaurus, and its pragmatic side. According to the structure general teaching and pedagogical discourse include dialogue and monologue. Also, it concerns the form of speech: oral or written. Specific features teaching and pedagogical discourse are differentiated taking into consideration learning situation where discourse is realized (lecture, seminar, practical lesson, consultation, meeting report, conversation with parents or students). Each of this situation has its own lexical, grammatical, stylistic characteristics as well as structure of speech, intensity and modality. Also, the study shows that English language instructor at the higher institution of pedagogical education should possess a number of special skills to carry out effective and positive teaching and pedagogical discourse.
