NATURALISM IN THE WORK OF MIKHAIL MOGILYANSKY TO CREATE IMPRESSIVE PICTURES OF REALITY

Abstract

The literary analysis of Ukrainian writer’s Mykhailo Mogilyansky work is made in the article. The short story “The Shot” depicts a life of a young man who fell in love with a married woman and accidentally shot her husband. The writer’s reproduction of the sincere and at the same time painful relationships between the characters, the tragedy of unanswered love and its consequences are determined. In the short story “From the Dark Sources of Life” naturalism in the depiction of an episode from the life of a lawyer Argulin and his mysterious death is represented. The narrator’s attention to the psychological state of the hero and its influence with consequences is registered. The short story “Destruction” depicts a life of a young woman who turned to a fatal path in life – trading her body and love, a contrasting scene of her tender feelings, and the man’s hatred to this girl with the use of naturalism is depicted.
It has been determined a transfer of all phenomena from human life into artistic space, but without defining the essence of these phenomena and without explaining the reasons. The writer used the following techniques of naturalism as: reflection of a person under the influence of his physiological nature in conjunction with the environment of his life; pessimism and hopelessness of the life situation, leading to the death of the hero; documentary reproduction of events; detailed representation of the image while maintaining objectivity.
