Abstract

The article is aimed at studying intonation and its impact on speech communication. The attention of linguists is noted that intonation plays the most important role in the process of speech communication and each language has its own characteristics. The analysis of the research of domestic and foreign scientists in the theory and practice of linguistic disciplines revealed that most researchers consider intonation as a sound means of organizing semantic information and an emotionally expressive design of speech communication. Intonation and speech sounds are gaining new significance today due to the diversity of languages, dialects, idiolects, ethnolects, sociolects, etc. It has been established that intonation has a complex structure and formation and is characterized by: forming statements into a single whole, that is, contributing to the formation of the perception of the content of a certain speech communication and revealing the subtext of the statement, conveying information that is not expressed in words; intensity – strength of voice; tempo – degree of speed and slowness of speech; the color of the intonation is given by the timbre of the voice; pauses (speech stops), the more significant the pause is for expressing thoughts.
Attention is drawn to the fact that language learning is the result of the interaction of language and culture between representatives of different nationalities and languages, and the need to take into account neurophysiological, mental, anthropometric features of a human, as well as economic and social features that affect speech communication, is emphasized. It has been established that today the speech intonation competence of educated people tends to use an advanced innovative form in speech communication and is characteristic of any expression and expresses its various emotional shades.
