Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of functional and stylistic features of the Ukrainian newspaper text of the war period. It is emphasized that the newspaper text in the media discourse is characterized by a number of lingual and extralingual factors, a clearly expressed pragmatic orientation and a focus on the communicator and the recipient. It is analysed and demonstrated that a modern newspaper text is functionally heterogeneous, combining elements of fiction, popular science, journalistic, official and colloquial styles, with the dominance of the journalistic style. Newspaper communication during the period of full-scale Russian invasion of the territory of independent Ukraine is an important element of the media landscape, not only providing information, but also shaping public opinion and creating an effective platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas. Therefore, the synergy of expression and standard becomes the dominant stylistic technique for organizing journalists' statements, as the desire to persuade readers requires more and more linguistic creativity to achieve a persuasive effect. The language of the mass media during the war is characterized by polyphony, imagery, expressiveness, and aphorism; the vocabulary of war has a strong emotional and expressive colouring, including both relevant professional terminology and colloquial and vernacular words. The syntax of newspaper texts also has its own peculiarities, associated with the active use of emotional and expressive constructions: exclamatory and interrogative sentences, rhetorical questions, exclamations, appeals, and repetitions. After all, the unexpected and brutal invasion of the Russian Federation has outraged the Ukrainian people and the entire world community. Newspaper discourse plays an important role in the perception and understanding of military events and in the formation of a certain linguopolitical culture of society.
