The article examines the methodological foundations of teaching the course “Text Editing Practicum” for future translators, which is an essential component of professional training in the field of translation. It emphasizes that text editing is an integral stage of the translation process, ensuring accuracy, adequacy, and stylistic consistency of translated material. The study analyzes the current state of research on text editing and translator training, highlighting the works of both foreign and Ukrainian scholars. Particular attention is paid to the relevance of integrating the “Text Editing Practicum” into the educational process and the necessity of step-by-step development of students’ skills in working with texts of various styles and genres.
The article describes the course structure, objectives, and tasks aimed at developing critical thinking and professional competencies in spelling, stylistics, and proofreading. It highlights teaching methods such as practical classes, group work, individual assignments, and real-world case studies. Significant emphasis is placed on the use of digital tools (CAT tools, software for spelling and style checking, terminology management systems) to enhance editing efficiency and foster students’ digital literacy.
The article also outlines the psychological aspects of an editor-translator’s work, including stress resilience, concentration, objectivity, and the ability to work with large volumes of text under time constraints. The study concludes that the “Text Editing Practicum” plays a strategic role in the training of future translators, as it combines theoretical foundations, practical tasks, and modern technological tools, ensuring the development of professional competencies necessary for successful translation practice.
